This course covers basic concepts of matter and its classification; mass relationships in chemical reactions; properties of gases, liquids and solids; fundamental principles of thermodynamics; quantum theory and electronic behavior; periodic relationships of elements in the periodic table; intramolecular forces; solutions; rate of chemical reactions; chemical and ionic equilibrium and electrochemistry. Applications of chemistry in the practice of engineering profession such as Material Science, Environment, Energy, Chemical Safety.
