Course Description:
General survey of the world fisheries, with emphasis on Philippine aquatic resources, their production and utilization. It includes
study on laws affecting aquatic resources, their protection and conservation like RA 8550, FAO memorandums and others.

Course Outcomes
In this course, the students are expected to:
1. Discuss and define the basic concepts and terminologies in general fisheries
2. Discuss the basic principles, concepts, and practices in aquaculture
3. Appreciate the importance of post- harvest technology in fisheries
4. Identify the major and minor fishery resources in the Philippine setting and the different fishing gears used in capture fisheries
5. Appreciate, show awareness and give interpretations on the status, problems and trends of fisheries in the Philippines and some parts
of the world
6. Recite the laws, regulations, policies and orders affecting fisheries
7. Apply the laws in the use of sustainable fisheries development
