This course will explore various approaches to problems and issues in bioethics, drawing from philosophical, anthropological, and historical perspectives. It will cover contemporary concerns related to environmental issues, including population growth and resource use, pollution and environmental justice, sustainability, non-human animal welfare, biodiversity loss, global climate change, medical care, and biotechnology. The two main goals of the course are to provide students with a conceptual vocabulary to create and evaluate ethical arguments across different domains and to engage students in ethical reasoning and reflection on environmental, medical, and biotechnological issues.
