This is an introductory course to surveying. It deals with the fundamental concepts
and techniques used by surveyors speci fically as they are applied to Civil Engineering
projects.

Originally, this course was meant to be field work intensive, and students would have
to spend the majority of their time out in the fi eld rather than inside the classroom
for lectures. However, given the current circumstances, computational aspects of
surveying will be given emphasis.

Because of these changes, it has been decided that the succeeding subject, GEE142
- Curves and Earthworks, will be utilized such that all the principles and techniques learned in this course will be practiced in the fi eld.
